Being charged with serious felonies like murder is frightening

Being charged with any felony is enough to make a Louisiana resident fearful. When those felonies consist of charges for first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder, the fear can become paralyzing. One man faces these charges after four deaths in two apartments.

Authorities received a 911 call from a woman saying that she suffered a bullet wound to the head. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two men and another woman dead from gunshot wounds. In another apartment, another person was stabbed to death. So far, investigators determined that the killings and attack on the woman occurred during a theft of cocaine in possession of the victims. Allegedly, the theft was planned.

Officials say that a 20-year-old man known to at least one of the victims perpetrated the robbery and murders. Supposedly, this man attempted to eradicate his presence from the two Metairie apartments, including any security cameras on the property. Members of three law enforcement agencies collaborated on the investigation and apprehension of the man, who is considered the lone suspect in the murders. Allegedly, he also stole a vehicle belonging to one of the victims and possessed a firearm for which he also faces charges.

Louisiana prosecutors will be tasked with proving to a court of law that the man is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Before that point, he retains the right to review all of the evidence prosecutors intend to present the court and confront any witnesses against him in court. As is the case for anyone charged with serious felonies such as these, criminal defense counsel would be invaluable in preparing a defense and exploring all of the available options.
